Course Description The Brain and Laser/Light therapy: This program will be focused on laser treatment for Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and taught by Valerie Krossin, BSN and Timothy Wakefield, DC, DACBSP, CSCS (retired), CCST, CPCO. Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is the research term for light therapy. PBMT research is rapidly expanding. PBMT research is a broad term and includes all classes of lasers and LED’s, therefore when choosing what PMBT device to use on a patient can be very challenging. When treating an area with PBMT the most important thing is to reach the target, with a therapeutic dose, to receive a clinical result. Not all light therapy is created the same.  Timothy S. Wakefield, DC is a Diplomate in the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified in Chiropractic Spinal Trauma, and is a Certified Professional Compliance Officer. Dr. Wakefield has taught multiple programs and published multiple articles in relationship to clinical documentation, CPT, coding, and sports injuries and physical fitness. In May 2023 Dr. Wakefield retired from clinical practice after 34 years. He has used laser therapy in his clinic for over 25 years and has seen tremendous results. Dr. Wakefield has developed a passion for laser/photobiomodulation therapy and sees a direct relationship in the art, science, and philosophy, of Chiropractic care and laser/photobiomodulation therapy. Dr. Wakefield is looking forward to sharing his experiences and giving you tools to successfully implement laser/photobiomodulation therapy into your clinic.
